Any chance of a quick qalk through of changing a CV??
Just which bits i need to remove, i am sure i could work it out but just havent got time to look at it at the mo, also unsure which CV i need.
Thanks again

Hi,
I recently stumbled upon a spare front axle, its a 1996 300tdi defender front axle with vented discs but i have a problem with one of the output shafts. I thought it may have been the drive flange having its thread stripped but it turns out it is the CV shaft thats got ruined splines.
Now i am planning on fixing it but i am unsure how and which part i need to buy, can anyone help?
Also is it worth buying the cheaper pattern parts or is my money better going on a Hardy spicer or similar, which are double the cheaper ones.
Any info and help.....please.
thanks

2 types Ralph there is a later seal mod kit that includes a new prop flange
FRC8220 and FTC4851 IIRC I think FRC8220 is the one required for the orig poster
I was thinking FRC8220 but wasnt sure as arent they the later axle's with M10 thread caliper bolts?? such as defenders??
Or would it be a pre 1985 RR axle making it FRC4586??
But to be honest i will just order both of these as they are only a £1 each so it covers me either way.
Thanks again

Hey all,
I have fitted a disc braked rear axle to my 90 but i need to know which one it is as i need a new pinion seal.
I think its an early range rover one but i am not sure and i have no idea which year this woudl mean. I am thinking its an early range rover as the Brake caliper retaining bolts are UNF thread as apposed to the later M10 threaded axle casings.
Can anyone help me with this??
I have the week off work so now the time for me to fix all the little problems i have.
Thanks in advance

Hey,
Is anyone able to shed some light on this??
'Cranked trailing arms from Jez on here, plus a few shims correct the rear diff position.'
Does Jez still make them and any more info on them, and what and where did you use the shims??
cheers

i use that same fan with the X switch but just cable tied mine round and through the outer rad/intercooler frame so it wont damage any fins. cable ties all the way and wont budge at all.
Well worth the £15 i paid

Hi,
I have now got my Ford leccy fan up and running on my 200tdi 90 but i wanted to ask other peps who are running them a couple of questions.
I am running an X eng switch in the bottom hose and i have a racetech temp gauge to keep an eye on things.
Now so far i went green laning yesterday and with all the road driving the engine didn't climb more than 80ish degrees so the fan never had to come on.
Is this a normal thing for them?? or is my new gauge broke already???
O and io am running an 82 dgree stat.
any info please??
thanks

Anyone advise on which size fuse should be used with this Ford fan??
cheers

Measure it and then you will know. As a rough guess I reckon it is the same. Try looking up the part nos.
cheers but i would have measured if i had them both, but i dont .
thanks anyway

i dont aim for rocks etc. Sometimes things just get the way

i just searched Nylon Tubing on ebay and bought 6mm/15m for £6ish delivered, worked a treat and a choice of colours

I am not a fan of the half moon diff guards, they dotn really protect it from much in my opinion. If something hits it hard its still only attached to the axle/diff housing so will more than likely still get busted. I have a southdown front axle/diff gaurd, i do loose some ground clearance but i make it up with the tyres but i have had some bloody hard hits and it just takes it with a smile (drawn on).
Other than that i agree with 3 piece steering gaurd but it all depends upon budget and what sort of driving you do.
-
I agree, stick with standards.
Found polybushes to be eaten away buy the dirt etc getting in between them and the metal surfaces and they just dont like it.
Also, why do we need tighter steering in a land rover on the road. I havent ever planned on racing it around bends....
