  1. It came with a relay type board and a probe that sat between the radiator fins but as far as I remember there wasn’t instructions with it. Was along time ago I actually bought it for another project that’s now 15yrs in 🫣
  2. Im hoping the manual switch will stop it activating when I don’t want it too The fans a kenlowe job with black, grey and brown cable so I presume blacks earth, and either off the others are a fast speed and slow speed
  3. Cheers, I’ll alter my mistakes in the morning. For the fan Iv a 3 terminal switch in the top hose and an electric fan with an earth and a brown and a grey wire which I presume are low speed and high speed. The idea with the switch was to hopefully leave the witch deactivated when needed. 2nd alternator was taken from the instructions that were on the listing when I bought it so thought that was just the correct way. I presume I wouldn’t really need the warning lamp connections for that
  4. Took out the split charge and the issue was gone, decided as I was only running a short distance to work and back each week I’d opt for the second alternator option and everything’s now fine
  5. ok so I’m about to wire in a few bits into my 90 but need a little advice iv figured out the schematics as I believe to be correct but open to criticism as I’m no expert. I’m not 100% on amperage’s etc and figuring out which fuses, wiring gauges I require. I’m lead to believe if I go overboard I could be looking at voltage drop and if to low I’m looking at a fire 😱 Ill post my schematics below and hopefully one of you chaps will be clued up and let me know exactly what I may need and point out my mistakes. If someone can advise me on everything I’ll send an alcoholic gift to them
  6. Aye Iv just been for a quick YouTube trip and see just how wrong I was 🙈😂😂 Gona be the weekend now before I get at it again 😮‍💨
  7. Red to positive, black to negative but Iv a funny feeling I’m doing it wrong
  8. Ok so for some time Iv been having battery trouble and now it’s doin my head in. I started sorting out some wiring in my 90 recently so thought right, new battery’s as a start before wiring up lights etc. New Yausa fitted alongside a 110ah leisure battery along with a simply split charge split charge system. Still I have issues with a flat battery. Now I drive to work early hours Monday mornings which takes approx 15-20mins, usually dark so lights on, led all round including headlights and same on the return Friday night. So from Monday morning to Friday night every week it sits idle in the yard. Could the batteries maybe not get enough charge? 2nd Iv an earth from battery to outrigger (new earth cable fitted recently. Iv also got an earth direct from battery to starter bolt and another direct from battery to gearbox, could this be a problem? Tonight I got a rare night home mid week and again she’s flat. Jumped off my jump pack and ran home. Got the multimeter out and battery shows charging at 14.09v, is this sufficient? Main battery showing 12.36v and leisure showing 12.3v when engines off. Checked parasitic and shows 0.00ohms on both. Im absolutely baffled now as to where my issue is. The only thing that’s active all the time is the tracker which is wired to the leisure battery. Other than that I not got round to connecting anything else yet
  9. Ahh, cheers, never actually knew that and Iv been around HGV’s for a long time. Do you know of any diagrams that might help me?
  10. Ok so I’v finally got round to adding a second battery and wiring up everything on my 90, question is how do I wire my led bar so it comes on both with main beam or independently? Iv googled it but there’s so many different diagrams come up you never know which one to believe.
  11. Could this be what I needed back when I looked years ago
  12. I could never find a definitive answer about wiring at the time so it’s wired direct to battery and we presumed the other 2 terminals were for the 2 speeds on the fan. Would anyone have a link to a wiring diagram of some sort
  13. Ok so went out to let the dog out last night around 11pm and heard like a fan sound from my 90. Popped the bonnet and find the Kenlowe spinning away. Unplugged the positive from the x switch and left it. Plugged back in this morning and straight away it starts spinning so for now it’s disconnected. Could this simply be a fault with the x switch or should I be looking elsewhere?
  14. Ahh, I tightened up the big bolts too early, that could allow a little movement if I undo them a redo. Also the centre of my caliper dosent have a bolt and stake washer thingy as such. Mines one o the early ones wi just a torque headed bolt through it. I tried loosing it but then again it was all copied up by then
  15. Evening chaps, while since Iv been on. Years ago I bought an x eng disc brake for a 90 project which years later is still a very slow burning project. Today I robbed it for my 90 that’s actually on the road. Tonight Iv fitted it but I had a struggle getting the cable to meet. Eventually it’s met but it’s very tight, to the point I can’t even get 1 click on the lever. Iv also fitted a Discovery handbrake lever which might alter the adjustment a little. Is it possible I need to install the Disco cable or is there another way of adjusting the caliper?
  16. Aye, it’s crazy just how little movement can make it run right
  17. Timing was a baw hair out. Perfect now though. Old gold goin like a train
  18. Ok chaps so I’m gona finally sort out some wiring on my ‘86 90. Fitting Anderson connector for jump start, second battery with plug for camping etc, isolator switch for the winch. I’m also looking at replacing the earth and positive cables but I’m unsure if 170amp is enough or should I go higher rated?
  19. Evening gents, Iv just finished rebuilding my 300tdi after the local supposed landrover specialist made a right c**k up of it. Refurbed block, all new shells/bearings, new piston rings, timing kit, water pump, all new gaskets and seals. Finally got it in and plumbed up yesterday but she’s struggling to start. Seems like fuel dosent get through then eventually it’s bursts into life but runs a little lumpy and blows a lot of white smoke with a strong smell of diesel. Once warm it runs fine if somewhat slightly underpowered. Could it be possible I need to alter the timing somewhat or could there be something I’m missing? Once warm it starts first turn of they key but after sitting a couple of hours it struggles for fuel again
  20. Ok so, Iv flushed and refilled, re bled the coolant system, checked the water pump and temps. All showing ok but after a lot of time on google I think I may have sussed it. I also have an oil leak around the rocker gasket, oil cap, it’s developed a rattle on tickover which gets faster as you accelerate and ever since being rebuilt it’s been a bitch to start from cold. So this weekend I’m gona test the compresssion and take it from there. I’m assuming it’s building pressure in the rocker are as the oil is being squeezed out and if you undo the oil cap, it dances around. It needs a lot of heat even in summer to start where the compression should make the heat needed and the overheating. Too much heat in rocker area right next to the temperature sensor. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad once the heads off
  21. Ok Iv bought a gun, will see what it comes up with
  22. Ok so after approx 300mls yesterday iv used no water but my oils went from max yesterday morning to dead on minimum today. Seems to be very damp around bottom of the head. Is it possible I may have a head or head gasket issue
  23. Defo not a false reading, she’s defo running very hot 🥵 On a long uphill she'll sit right on the bottom of the red and that’s with the thermostat out
