Where exactly are you going?
It is a BIG place....
There are Land Rover clubs in Alberta and BC and we can probably arrange a trip if we know your location and timing. There is a long trip (400 km off road) happening next week so people will be hard to contact.

I seriously doubt that you will be able to rent anything that can go off road other than an ATV.

Based on my VDO gauge... The 88 degree thermostat opens at 88 and closes at 82..... These are not Swiss watches.

Assuming your meter is good, that all looks fine. The alternator should try and maintain 14 volts. At lower rpm and higher loads, the voltage drop as it can not keep up.
At rest a fully charged battery is around 12.5 volts, so you might have a power leak somewhere or a battery on the decline.

Thats odd, my Mondeo fan has a 15amp fuse, which seems to cope with start up fine !
Are you wired to the high speed? The high speed should draw near 30 amps continuous....

You really don't want rims with lots of offset with that type of axle. You really want the wheel in as far as possible to try as reduce the ridiculously high scrub radius down to only crazy.

The longer ones should be for the rear. The way the vehicle is designed requires a longer compressed length on the rear than the front.

You can't really go by length..
The rears are "normally" a higher spring rate and should have a larger diameter coil. Between each pair, if one is longer than the other, then fit it to the driver's side.

They have a couple of uses....
1) To make sure you have adequate engine speed to bring on boost if required during a hill climb.
2) To prevent over revving when going downhill off road.... Yes it is possible....

Welding cable is certainly the best type of cable for the job.
I would suggest 2/0 gauge.

One will have resistance to ground (the sender). The other will have none (if low fuel active) or open circuit (if not)...
If you don't have an ohmmeter, just hook it up and see which one works. You can't hurt anything.

Do you have a spring lift?
Check swivel preload and panhard rod bushings.

Yah, it won't really affect performance. It just means that one cylinder is not combusting until there is a bit of heat in there. Check the timing at a minimum.

Normally this means your timing is retarded or you have low compression or possible one bad injector.
On a diesel white smoke is normally unburnt or partially burnt fuel.

Just keep in mind that the jack won't work after being there exposed to the elements for long. They do not like being dirty and need to be well lubricated.....
It really sucks when the pins won't release to lower the load.....

why pay silly money for a vdo gauge when you can get all you need in this one above, this even comes with a 2" mounting pod included in the price .
Well let's see...
1) That one costs more than a VDO.
2) The colour scheme looks nothing like the stock gauges.
3) 6000 rpm is much higher than needed.
a 4000 rpm VDO Vision is perfect.

Yes, they are different. The complete filter head assembly new does not cost very much.
The 200TDI filter is a spin on cartridge style. The older style has a through bolt and a removable bowl.

Mines the same with no adjustment facility. Mine however sits at a tad below 750 at tick over. Can you get to 3000 in a tdi ?

Certainly. 200TDIs governors are at 3750. They should rev and power freely up to there. 3000 rpm is 72 mph in a normal stock TDI in 5th gear.

Is this a "normal" aftermarket VDO tach or one from a TD5? Only the aftermarket ones are adjustable.

Mine is stuck on the roof at the back. Run the cable along the inside of the roof channel and down the A pillar. It goes out through a small hole near the rear door sealing. I put it there to prevent being ripped off when off road.
