  1. You know i love your truck anyway Will. I really don't know whether to risk this V8 110, even though my Dad told me not to because the frames will be at least 6 months wait... He works for L/R. All i keep thinking is that £700 is cheap for a 110 and with our budget being so low it may be the only one we can afford. Have to decide before 20:14 because that's when the offer ends.
  2. Yes, i've noticed they aren't cheap, Kieth Gott has got Genuine Parts side frames for £352.50 the pair. On the plus side Paddock have got the L/H frame for £116, pattern parts. Still thinking.
  3. The red one is over our budget unfortunately, looks just like what we want. I don't really want a V8, so wiht the other one having 5 days to go means it's going to be heading up a bit pricewise. The one i've got the 2nd chance on is cheap and leaves me budget to get all the bits for a Tdi. I'm not shy of a bit of work and there's just something that appeals to me about it... Oh, i don't bloody know. Bloody Land Rovers. Why couldn't i prefer Mondeos or something?
  4. Thanks Ralph, that's what i wanted to know. I thought it would be flat steel, and it's well within budget which leaves room for repairs and almost all the money needed for a Tdi conversion. Having spoken to him on email, he seems pretty genuine and it's had the bits done over quite a while in line with regular servicing and maintenance. There's almost enough in my budget for the necessary bits to put the Tdi in now, which would be nice. I'll sleep on it. Don't be suprised if you end up thinking things like "Oh Dunc, what have you done now?" in the near future though...
  5. Chaps, Just been offered a 110 V8 on a second-chance-offer on eBay. It failed its MOT because of rot between front and rear driver's side door. Got to reply by tomorrow, so need your advice to how weldable that particular bit is and if anyone does a repair panel. I can save for a diesel engine because we'll be on minimal miles with it. Here it is; http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...W:IT&ih=016
  6. It's the remote beacons that sound cool to me. I would absolutely LOVE to be able to turn beacons on by remote! B) B) B) B)
  7. Probably similar tp the ones i had on my 110, although mine came from eBay! Talking of ebay, found a normally aspirated 'C' plate 110 Hard Top that's has 2 windows put in, no bids at £999 start. If we can't find something horrendously cheap at the auctions tomorrow, might have a dabble at that one. No joy with either of the ones in autotrader.
  8. i actually typed bor-locks but it came out as rubbish...
  9. Ebay for those then. Should get me a few quid back (he said talking like he'd already bought it).
  10. Explain please mate. I thought factory L/R's ran freestyle alloys?
  11. I have to say, the more i look at the 'suspected' Tdi the more i like it! I can see it now in tangiers orange with black chequer plate accoutrements, snorkel, Matt Lee 5 spokes, winch bumper, 2" lift...
  12. That's a nice one. Phoning tomorrow to ask some questions. I'm not a fan of the Isuzu conversion, but we'll see. Emailed another one on there i found. It's listed as a Defender, but it's on an 'H' plate so must be a very early 200Tdi or a typo. The bonnet has a Defender badge and the wing looks to have a Tdi decal. It's got 150k on the clock, but it's far enough under £2k to make it worth a credit card bending until the DoKa sells!
  13. Thanks Dude, i'll go and have a look. Just need to save up for the Tdi conversion then...
  14. My 3 pen'th; I used 'Halfords Brake and Clutch Fluid' when i had my S3! It was cheap and came in a 5 litre container. Worked fine in the few years i had it. The moisture retention properties you mention are more long-term i'd have thought.
  15. There's a 200 Tdi with no mileage information, absolutely complete with loom and rad, just sold on ebay a little over £250. There are a couple of Defender Tdi engine's with buy-it-now of £450- 500. They'll bolt up to a V8 'box in a 110 i reckon, should be an LT77s isn't it? NEW PLAN: 110 V8 CSW, sub-£1k needing work 200 Tdi complete engine £500 Odd & sods £250 (for overhaul and installation) Circa £1750 = 200 Tdi with overhauled engine. Huzzah!
  16. Yeah, i know what you meant mate. My Rangey just left for its new home in Brecon :( Found this on ebay, might have a dabble http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A:IT&ih=006 Also, we've had a look at some early 90s that are around the £1000-1500 mark. Might do the job short term and at least we can resell it for pretty much the same once we can afford a 110.
  17. Found loads i like mate, bugger all i can afford though! Emailed one chap who had a TD on a 'G' that didn't hit its reserve but he'd just done a deal at £1750. Feck! Aaaaahhh... that would make more sense i guess!
  18. Ebay is a bit thin on the ground for 110's at the mo, unless you're looking at Td5 and big money ones. Like a wise man said, "be patient" is going to be my buzz word!
  19. Just a thought; How much effort is it to convert to a Tdi? My research shows me that there are some bargains to be had that are V8 powered with quite low mileages. Maybe it would be just as cost effective for me to get a 110 V8 and then put a Tdi in? Just thinking out loud...
