  1. I have janspeed manifolds, rimmer bros straight through stainless centre box, and a rear section of 2 1/4" stainless made by a14 exhausts. This systems flows very well. Very free revving, upto 5500rpm no problem, no bad noises, nothing. It is also pretty quite really, but does bark out a little when over 4000rpm. This whole system cost me just £185. A cheap system can be made by shopping around at second hand bits (although only my manifolds and y-piece was second hand) and look around at land rover shows and haggle with them. Very happy the way mine is now :i-m_so_happy:

    i dont think them being 11.5" wide will alter the hight, but i dont know if fedima or silverstone do any 11.5" wide tyre. but like me if its for a spare anything 35" dia and close will do, id just prefer a similar tread pattern.

    I don't mind whether they are 10.5 or 11.5 wide really, as long as they are the same height then because it is a spare it doesn't really matter too much. All I know is that my 35/11.5 16 et2's are 35" tall at 18psi on an 8" wide rim

  3. The scorpion ones that I have fit very well, and TBH if mine was to come off, then my axle would sustain quite alot of damage I would think! However, there are others out there that don't fit very tight, like Rebel. My dad has some on his 90, tightened up all the same as mine, but has spun around on the diff pan.

  4. yep I have them, and they are fantastic. Not one of the wheels leak air. Although, if I was to buy again, purely for the price I would buy from Gary and just inform him that you want 32 bolt holes. And possibly? get a fibre belt (fan belt) that fits perfectly around the inside of the locker. That is a great thing about the bt fab ones as it comes as standard and stops the mud and grime getting down on the threads and stops the bolt heads pulling on one edge, which then spreads the pressure around the tyre bead a little better.

  5. If you want a really, really soft setup.......then go for a set of soft springs, i.e. scorpion and rough country shocks. This is what I have and to be perfectly honest, it is a bit too soft for me. Once you start going over 20mph on rough ground it can get a bounce going, so there might not be enough damping here.

  6. I have bought products from gwyn and will keep buying products from gwyn. Gwyn and his service is superb, and best of all friendly. I will probably be purchasing some props and possibly some old man emu dampers to upgrade my kit very shortly :)

  7. I have got some slightly sifter springs on the back of my rangie now and all that it seems to be doing is launching the back end up faster and not letting the damper do its proper job. A set of old man emu's are looking like my next option and unlike you Nige, I don't compete so there isn't so much worrying here about the perfect setup for my off road larking about. I leave my real suspension complications to my motocross..........

    I was thinking along that line. get 4 mods, cut out the centres, move them back to get my 3.5" backspacing and then weld on some beadlocks to give me the 8" or 8.5" width rim, providing I use a 7x15" wheel to start with. The only problem with that is I keep having to ask a mate of mine to do it all for me as I do not have a welder!

    I shall put a welder on my christmas list......... :P

  9. Thanks Dave, although I used to have a set of 10" rockathons with little backspacing and with the small lift I have got they rubbed like crazy! The rims were just too wide as I haven't got a body lift. I don't want to lift it up anymore as it is really stable when I get the suspension sorted! I need an 8" to 8.5" rim with 3.5" backspacing, then the tyres do not rub even on full articulation.

  10. Nige, I have exactly the same problem as you.

    I am using the rough country's and on the slow stuff they are great, flex really well and allow good traction to the wheels. However, as soon as the speed increases they can get a bit of a bonuce on and the car feels very unstable. It will also, wallow alot and bottom out.

    Personally, I think it must be down to the angle that in rear dampers are at, as the front is perfect, soft but firm enough if that makes sense!?!

    I am thinking of going down the old man emu route atm, although I would like to know the verdict or outcome of this discusion.

  11. yep bulge quite a bit, but as I said they were only to see whether that size tyre would work with only 70mm of spring lift, and the gwyn lewis challenge kit.............and it does, really well with no rubbing etc. I need some wider wheels now, and preferably with beadlocks!
