Steve, (someone will confirm this but......) all 4.2's are hotwire injection and they are only serpentine from 1994 onwards
-
How many ponies does the 4.2 produce as standard?
200bhp std

Just out of interest, how much will the line speed increase roughly on a 12v winch that has 24v running through it? Is there a given percentage?
TIA
-
Hi Rhys
You will need two batteries to make a 24V system as you link two 12v together to get the voltage, if you need help pop in and i can run you through it as its the same as my RR and Jims right about he albrights i run 12v with 24v going through them makes for lees 24v wires running round the car.
Best regards Jon
Thanks Jon,
Thats super
You will almost definitely hear from me as you have given me that offer now

Hey, thanks everyone.
I'll take a look at the simbars and halfords ones. The one where the wheels fit into really appeals. I've looked at the website cut can't find one for the freelander. Rhys, does your pendle carrier sit on the tow bar?
Yes, it has a clamp which fits onto your tow ball

Could be g-wagon
Their spec is here
Bolt pattern 5H – 5.1" BCD
Lug style M14 ball seat stud
Hub bore diameter 3.31” (84.0 mm)
Might be worth a check

I had tyres that were around 33 1/2" tall and 10.5" wide, both front and back arches needed trimming but not excessively, and on articulation and steering no rubbing at all (steering stops could actually be wound in as they cleared the arms by a mile!) This was because my wheels had the perfect offset for this size tyre.
The key to get larger tyres to tuck in your arch etc. is the offset of your wheels. This will differ slightly from tyre to tyre, size etc.

Or if you want something a little more aggressive..............My wheels and tyres!
-
However, we had one and gave it alot of abuse, we even drowned it in 4ft of water, but it kept going.
On the other hand, it was incredibly rattley and smoked so much you couldn't see behind
-
Another quick question, can I run just one 24v battery or has it got to be two 12v?
-
Special thanks to Jim (D90SV)
PM on its way

Thanks to all for your help, I think that I maybe able to do it!
Mo, the winch motor will still be 12v, so running 24v through it speeds it up quite a bit. Although it doesn't do it alot of good
Another little question, when the motor dies from having too much power from it, what is it internally that gives up? Anything replaceable, or just get a new one?
-
pendle bike racks. We have the one that you fit the wheels and tyres into and keeps them separate from one and other. Superb, enough said
-
cool, thats the answer I was looking for
Now the important bit, how much money for a 24v alterntor?
-
sorry badly worded.
so to get the 24v I need two alternators, the second one being 24v?
ATM Tony, the car will not be used to great extent, however as I am only young it will be built up and therefore used more. For now this is a start, a couple of years down the line and this winch maybe in the back
-
I have just spent the last half hour searching for my answer of how to set up and make my front winch run on 24v? No luck, or am I just useless? No, answers required
Can anyone be of any help please?
I would like to run a warn xp on 24v for my front winch, however as I use the car very few times a year, maybe 2 challenges and some driving days, will the motor last for a fair duration?

Filled my doors with tiger seal, very pleased with the result. Wasn't pleased when I pulled off an arch first time out though.
I will be filling my doors with expanding foam

The best advice is take your time, measure lots, cut a little at a time and hide the swear box or you'll be broke before you've finished the first one!!
Exactly.
I have just done mine. Not hard, just take your time. Don't work to a dead line, and do little by little

I also have the allied rockathon beadlock wheels, and can second on steve that they are fairly light, as both the 35" mickey thompson and the wheel only weighs 46kgs
-
Do you mean that the way that they are ribbed to hold the bead?
-
Manifolds- not a lot more power, but more responsivness and freeer reving. Which I like

Have been informed that K&N's can reduce more HP than gain if not correctly setup with the ecu and if they are not cleaned/serviced regulary, clog up and restrict air flow
Was speaking to John from Brunel about this. ITG is a good one
Also, the tubular 4 branch manifolds are a good upgrade, although the engine would benefit from setting up/fueling correctly for any system. Still works good though, I have the janspeed ones.
