  1. I've removed several of these "things" the only method which worked for me was a good sharp chisel and nicely weighted hamer, if your replacing the joint it should come with a new nut and pin, I alson found that removing it from the A frame required a press but maybe I was just unlucky.
  2. In the process of fitting a 200tdi into 1983 Rangy, I have read that the input shaft lenght on the long lever lt77 is different, donor is 1993 Disco, Any clues.
  3. I thought this changed when the 5 door came into production, but maybe not ? My 83 5 door slope's
  4. There are 2 bolts which go through the wings and through the sill trims, there is also a bracket running fron the bottom of the wing backwards but I cannot remember where they fasten, I lost mine during a rebuild years ago, the wings have been fastened to the trim only since with no problems.
  5. Thank you all, this is the info I was looking for, going to try the conversion this weekend but with limited time ????? I will write a problem report for others. Wish me luck.
  6. Just a thought, you could try testing or replacing the temperature sensor, it could be telling the ECU lies like it's -40c. Good luck.
  7. Hi, Iv'e seen several R/R with the same prob, it will run very well and then turn into a bag of sh, my bet's on the ignition amp but something in the back of my mind says, A conection prob on the loom running through the valley between cylinder heads and feeding the dizzy.

  10. I replaced mine last year as most of it had been lost on the road but had to jack the rear back into position, dont leave it to long.
  11. Hi, You need to a bit carefull here as the rear of your r/r might be a little soft, I have seen the goalposts moving on very bad examples, replacement is not such a bad job if you can weld and will be a cure for many years.
  12. Thanks for that I'm in a funny position where I have two complete disco's with rotten bodies and good mechs plus my trusty 1983 R/R which is in decent order, where I live petrol is £1.15 per litre and thats just crazy, poor old v8 will find a home in my MGB so all is not lost, done lots of swaps before but still looking for info, tried a search here but found very little will try again.
  13. I plan to install a 200tdi into my 1983 classic, any info or tips, anyone done this.
