  1. Hello James:

I did not know that page. Looks like they do not address the issue, which I`m surprised of. The Puma is a total mystery whatsoever. LR made ( I hope for good) several minimal changes, beside the engine, on the prop shafts, front suspension and also diffs. Unless I get into the Microcat I think I´ll have no luck searching for parts.

    Thanks

    M

  2. By quoting a rear Truetrac diff for my 110 SW Puma, some of the suppliers asked for part numbers since LR changed a bit the diff :( !

Does anyone know the part numbers for the crown-pinion-bearings-halfshaft.....I went to the dealer who has the microcat, but last weekend some water came from the roof just over his PC. Of course he would not lend me the cd

    thanks

  4. That is about right, but not for mine. At the store I spot a new 130 where you can actually see the springs easily and they were brown/purple. However, mine have some tiny green/green/white flecks of paint. Either LR forgot to mark them or they are ......who knows.

  5. What oil viscosity does a 300 Tdi use.....I could have sworn I was told 15w40......but I have just had a butchers at the Castrol website, and they say its 0w30 (they recommend Castrol Edge.)

.....or does it not really matter that much???

Does it make any difference whatsoever, what brand you use? i.e will a £40 job be ANYdifferent from a £10 job??

I certainly THINK I could tell the difference in my sports car days....not sure about a Land Rover though.

According to the manual it is 15W/40 API CD. It covers between -10ºC and above

  6. Thanks for the info. I find my standard springs already stiff though. The new 110" Puma comes with different ones than the latest Td5. Who knows wjhat spring rate.....

I have these on my 110 rear -

    Part No. 754

    Axle Rear

    Rate (lbs./In.) 420

    Recommended
Application Heavy Duty (1,100 lbs.)

    Length
(DS) 17.1"

    Length
(PS) 17.1"

    Resulting Lift 3"

These are the strongest they do.

No mods other than OME shock absorbers, I do not have the A frame damper nor anti-roll bar.

I will change the rear brake pipe, when I anticipate doing anything radical off-road.

The drive is excellent and I do not notice any particular discomfort.

These springs will allow considerable load capacity without in my opinion affecting light running.

what kind of OME springs are you getting (what spring rate)? Will they (for sure the shock abs) be stiffer than the stock set? Have a look, if you can, to the colour code on the originals. I have a 110" Puma and I´m getting frustrated since LR changed the rear ones and nobody knows the spring specs.

    thanks

    M

    Hi all

thanks for all the info, yes it a 90 Puma.

Got an ARB bumper on the front of it + winch and fixing it up to be a overland truck.

I need to fit some heavy shock and springs due to all the extra kit as I can already feel the current suspension bottoming out on the bump stops because of the load, hence the OME kit. The OME kit is like a 2" lift, hence the question, henced the answers, hence my pocket might get lighter...

  8. I have read somewhere in the web a chap having problems when lifting the 110" Puma. Search under......"2007 Defender lifting.... or so". I agree, seems every Defender behaves randomly. I ahve been at the point to upgrade the suspension, but then I would loose the warranty.

  9. You sound like a geologist

To be fair, almost anyone who is going to buy a new TDCi is almost certain to possess a computer, most likely a laptop, wherever they are based and may frequently travel with it so a CD for "home" use would be a good step in the right direction. Taking a laptop into the bush however is another story (I like to imagine that the laptop would be broken before the vehicle <_< )! PDAs might be a solution for a serious operator running a fleet of vehicles in remote areas, but probably not for the average owner.
  10. Despite some arrogant answers above I can comment that LR would not issue proper manuals until certain number of cars are sold. I think this happened with some RR model. Just tech bulletins. I was told.

    regards

    M

Bizarre, so the dealers don't have a paper manual either... This must become a nightmare in countries where internet infrastructure is not well developed, i.e. the very countries in which people might also think of driving a Defender
  11. I get the clunk specially when shifting from 4th to 5th, despite the system is warm....It would be interesting to check if LR did change/modified the gearbox during last time. Mine was built in june. I have 5k now but I think I´ll wait until the 10k service to get fix this problem, oil leaking from the gearbox and the sump issue.

  12. This is a LHD so they go the other way around. You are probably right about those flecks. It would be nice if you could have a look to your back springs one day.

    Mack

Where are you based? More importantly is your Puma RHD or LHD?

Your fronts are the right colour but the wrong way round IMHO. Should be Yellow = passenger and White = Driver

As for the rear, not sure of a setup that had green or white - the standard self levelling suspension setup (for older models) has green/white on passenger's and blue on driver's. That's as close as it got.

I don't think the flecks of paint you found can be related to the part numbers.

  13. Not sure. I was washing out the dust and wax from the springs and they have some quite small green-green-white paint marks on just one coil each. This code is not showing up in any spec posted around the web. I guess I´ll have to ring or write LR sometime.

    thanks

    M

I think the HD setup has 2 sets of springs - an inner set and an outer set.
  14. Hello dico al

Well, that is cheap compared to the equivalent £43 it costs on this side of the planet. Only Liqui Moli has it.

    regards

    M

Ford specify 5w/30 in all their engines these days, 5w/40 would be ok, but in the Mobil brand it would cost a bit.

Normal 5w/30 semi synthetic from a factors would be fine, expect to pay around the £15 mark for 5 litres.

  15. Thanks Alantd:

mine is a TDCi (Puma), but I do not have those colours...... at the rear I have green at right and white at left. Weird.

I hope these are not HD. It is quite stiff though.

    regards

    M

The 07 110 part numbers are:

RKB500300 for the rear (non-heavy duty suspension) and are brown/purple.

NRC8044 for front driver (non-heavy duty) and are white

NRC8045 for front passenger (non-heavy duty) and are yellow

These are different to the TD5 ones

Depends whether the TD5 has self-levelling suspension (the later ones don't). Depends on VIN but later ones without SLS, should be brown/purple RKB101111

Are you saying yours is a Td5 or TDCi?
