    Oil Cooler

I need to fit a separate oil cooler for the 200tdi engine. Due to space issues I can’t use the 200tdi radiator and so am using the series one. Any suggestions on how many cooling rows I need? I’m thinking of a 16 row, 330x124x55mm one, will this be big enough? Also, are the pipe fittings 5/8th or ¾ BSP? Cheers, Chris
  3. Cheers for the replies, welding is not a problem, will find out the price of the flexi joints compared to a decent pipe expander. Cheers, Chris
  4. Hello, I need to make up an exhaust for my Series 2 200tdi conversion. I have been looking at exhaust pipe expanders on Ebay so that I can make sleeved joints, there is one make, Lisle which appear to be very good quality but also very expensive and cheap non branded ones. Has any one had any experience with these, are they any good? Cheers, Chris Ebay, Lisle Ebay, non branded
  5. A set of metric ratchet spanners, very pleased with them! Chris
  6. Thanks for that Dave, I'll get out to the workshop after work and have a measure. Chris
  7. The brackets are not expensive, NRC5743 is £18.25 inc and 5742 is £25.13 inc so not the end of the world but would obviously like to get hold of a second hand set! Looking at how the engine / gearbox sits in the chassis at the moment I'm not sure I would be any better off as I think the Defender brackets would still sit too low in the chassis. That's why I was wandering if I have put the engine mounts on correctly as it does look like the whole lot needs to sit higher up. Any more pictures would be a great help! Chris
  8. In case I need to order new brackets, I am desperate to have them before Christmas as I have 2 weeks off, please can someone confirm if I have the correct part numbers. Also, I have a pair of series diesel rubber mounts, will it be ok to use these are should I use the Defender rubbers? I think the part numbers are: NRC5743 bracket mounting for chassis gearbox side NRC5742 bracket mounting for chassis transfer box side NRC8204, superseded WC110067L square plate for gearbox and transfer box ANR1808 diesel rubbers Many thanks, Chris
  9. Thanks Jon, I'm off to the wanted section now! Chris
  10. Hi, unfortunately that is the mount I have used..... Chris
  11. Some more help required! The 1st photo is a spirit level on top of the engine, the 2nd photo is on the chassis showing that the engine is parallel to the chassis. I have attached the nearside gearbox mount but as you can see it is sitting below the chassis, so, have I put the engine mounts on correctly? Is the engine sitting too low? Or, is it simply that the gearbox mount that I have got hold of is the wrong type? Chris
  12. John, the gearbox cross member, not wanting to sound stupid, but just to confirm, that’s the one that the original series gearbox bolted to?! Did you replace it with a bolt in gearbox cross member, if so is there a measurement of where the bolt in cross member should go? Thanks, Chris
  13. Ok, the engine is using the series engine mounts and series diesel rubbers. Pictures below show engine mounts, how the engine and gearbox currently sit in the chassis, I'm having trouble squaring it up at the moment, and the gearbox mounts that I have got hold of. New front cross member
  14. Thanks for that Les, will they work with the range rover classic brackets that bolt to the chassis rails? Chris I'll take some photo's tomorrow of what I have got hold of.
  15. Cheers for the reply’s, I've got hold of classic range rover ones that bolt through the chassis rails, it’s the brackets that go onto the transfer box one side and the gearbox the other side that I'm not sure about. I have got a set off I think range rover, the offside bracket is a flat square plate, bolt hole in each corner and a central hole for the rubber, the nearside one is a lot bigger and harder to describe! I tried to offer them up this evening but I can't see how they are going to work. Cheers Chris
  16. I’ve got the 200tdi engine, LT77 gearbox and LT230 transfer box lined up in the chassis. What brackets have people used for the gearbox? Pictures would be a great help as well. Chris
  17. I’ve got some 24 spline half shafts from a 109 Salisbury rear axle. Are they the same length as 10 spline rover ones? Would it be possible to fit them in the rover rear axle so I could upgrade to a 24 spline rear diff? Chris
  18. I’ve decided to fit an LT77 gearbox with the 200TDI conversion in my 2a rather than a series gearbox. I know from using the search function that you need an LT77 with a LT230 transfer box, what I can’t find out is what ratio diffs I should use with this setup. I’ve already swapped them for 3.5 ones, is this correct? Also, with the LT77 gearbox, is it a lot longer than the series gearbox? Will I have to move the engine and gearbox mounts forward? Cheers, Chris
  19. Another question, do the new style locks fit the old cabinets? Cheers, Chris
  20. It's an early one so I'll try that tomorrow, if that fails, angle grinder it is! Chris
  21. Well, my workshop got broken into last week , nothing was stolen? Anything worth nicking is locked away in an old gun cabinet. Spent Saturday beefing up security, welding up steel boxes to go over the padlocks etc in case they come back again for the welder etc , only thing is it takes me 5 minutes to get into it now! Anyway, the question is, my Snap On tool chest, they have tried to break into it and have wrecked the lock so I can’t unlock it now……… Anyone know what I can do? Try and drill the lock out? Any suggestions welcomed! Chris
  22. Thanks for the info, spring washers sound like a good idea! Cheers, Chris
  23. Thanks Les, what stops the bolts from working loose? Chris
  24. Hi, I’ve got a Disco 200tdi engine to go in my series 2a, what bolts are used for the pressure plate to flywheel? I think they are m8, can I just use 8.8 strengh and what washers are used? Flat, star or split washers? Cheers, Chris
