Not sure if this is any help but I have a 1986 90. My lights started playing up so I disconnected the dim dip behind the dash and the lights now work fine.

what about the strengthing of the replacment release lever whats the best way to go about this or can they be bought??

Contact Les Henson on here (moderator of the Series Forum). He strengthens the clutch fork and paints it a nice colour too.

Sounds like there is a problem with the SRS. Only cure is to plug it in to testbook and find out what's wrong.

Don't forget to ask Les on here if he's got any reinforced clutch forks. It will save a lot of pain in the long run.

That's very interesting. It looks like I may have that fault on my 300 Series Discovery. When you start the vehicle the ABS light comes on. When you move off the ABS light goes out. However a little while later the ABS light comes on again. It started happening when I was off roading in the Pyranees. The brakes work fine BTW. The tracks were not hard but very bumpy. Does this sound similar ?

If it's prestolite one I had 3 before switching to a Bosch version. All were less than 2 months old and packed up.

As Jericho says, unbolt the hub from the ring of bolts on the axle. Pull the shaft and hub out and it's done. I recently fitted new diffs to my Discovery using this method.

A while ago Paddocks were doing Adwest steering boxes for less than Adwest would sell them for. May be worth giving Paddocks a ring.

I am pretty certain that Richard has packed up the business. If you need braided brake pipes David at LLama 4x4 does them. He even gives a forum discount.

Many years ago I went with Imapla. Neil is a nice guy and you get to do your own navigation with backup if needed. He seems a bit pricey now though. One reason we went with him was that, without knowledge, you could end up missing a lot of the sights.
You really need to know what you want to see/do before you go. I may still have the original road book. If I find it I'll send it to you and you can see the route we took.
Having been to a few places I found that, as long as your vehicle is in good condition, you should not have a problem. Parts will be available (even in Libya I got some BritPart bushes because mine broke up). Just make sure your suspension, cooling and drive train is in good condition and you should not have a problem.
BTW I still have the TPC's (Tactical Pilot Charts) if you want them.

I had exactly the same problem as you when I fitted parabolics to my Series III. I simply swapped the rear propshaft for a new one and problem solved. The problem was that the prop was now extended further than usual due to the lift given by the parabolic springs. This meant it was running further down the splines which were probably more worn than the splines at normal height (IYSWIM).

Yes you can flood an EFI. I have flooded my Disco before. What I did was remove the fuse from the fuel pump and turn the engine over to blow out the surplus fuel. I then left it for 10 m inutes to try and dry the plugs a bit. Put the fuse back in and it started first time.

When I replaced the cross member on my 90 it had the tabs already fitted. Which, as Neil says, were use to hold it in place whilst it was welded.

Went to Rogers Of Bedford at the weekend to see if some bitsI had ordered had arrived. Left the wife in the car while I spoke with Alan. Unfortunately he is still waiting for a couple of bits.
Meanwhile the wife is walking around looking at the use 90's. She spots one which is a P reg (1996) and comments on how nice it is and how much she really wants a 90, but not one I have messed around with (unlike the existing 90).
Upshot is we now have another 90 that she has now claimed as her vehicle. Doh!!!

So, we now have a Discovery (my car), a 1986 90 (300Tdi converted), a Nissan sunny (used as a run about) and the new 90 as well. Not wanting to keep all the cars I have decided I will try and sell the Disco or, maybe break it.
The Disco is a 1991 model with a 300 ES body fitted. So it comes with electric everything as well as aircon. It's a V8i which was fully rebuilt about 4 years ago. It's got a Lund LE1 cam in it as well and drives nicely. It's got 24 spline axles fitted (about a month ago) with Ashcroft 4.11 R&P's. Comes with a winch/bull bar, steel rear bumper(Discoparts) and a Millford Cargo Barrier. Plus loads of other stuff.
So should I break or sell it ?

Is it Engine oil or ATF (Gearbox fluid). If it's Engine oil it could be that your rear seal (think it's the crank seal) may be leaking. To repair it you can drop the gearbox or pull the engine. I am sure a grown up will be along later to confim this.

Sounds about right to me. I have a 3.5V8i Disco and when I was in Oz with it I used to get around 400Km per tank. I did not run the tank completely empty though. It works out at about 14Mpg which is about right for town work. I used to get a bit more when going longer distances. I have just come back from the Pyranees with mine and at a steady 60Mph on the motorway I was getting about 20Mpg.

I just used and angle grinder with a cutting disc when I replaced the rear crossmember. Don't waxoyl it before you weld as it will probably catch fire.

Replaced all the discs and pads on the 90 with Paddocks ones. No problems at all. I think the pads I got were Mintex as well.

Sorry Dave I should have worded it better. I did not mean that you were unhelpful just that you could not provide the answer.
RPR I binned the harmonic damper years ago without any apparant ill effects.
I'll talk to Gwyn about it and see what we come up with. I did try and get a double cardon propshaft but as I was going on holiday and they didn't have one I settled for the high angle.

It's been through a number of MOT's and no problem. I would either seal the pipes or leave them open as extra breathers. Mine was removed because I fitted a 300 Series ES Diesel body to it. I think they were fitted for fuel evaporation in some countries. Something about not letting surplus fuel evaporate into the air.
