MuddyWinny
Is it ok to clean the rear crank seal journal with brake cleaner? After fitting one and having it leak I'm cautious about damaging the Teflon seal. Thanks Mark
Maverik
Do you mean the face at which the rear seal runs on? if you've got the bell housing split from the engine and have room, I'd highly recommend you just replace the seal, if you get a genuine one they usually come with a handy installation aid, add a smear of engine oil to assist it slipping on, should be fine. just make sure the landing face of the flywheel flange is nice and even with no scores or anything, if its rough just polish with a super fine emery paper. MuddyWinny
Hello, Yes. Hmm, everything I have read says to fit the seal dry. Since the old one leaked I needed to clean oil from the journal. I've fitted a seal from Turner Engineering. I guess I'll find out how long it lasts... Thanks for replying.
