JP5
Please can anyone help? I’ve just bought a 2014 freelander 2 dynamic with the LED temperature and fuel gauge in the middle of the dashboard. I just wondered if anyone knows if the oil warning light should illuminate on start up? I’ve watch a few videos on YouTube and from watching them it seems like it shouldn’t, but I just wanted to check.
western
Most vehicles low or no oil pressure dashlight is on at start up/engine not running/engine cranking until the oil pressure is built up & at the correct pressure then the light goesout.
Dorsetfreelander
Doesn’t happen on my 14 reg. suggest you check oil level and when the filter was last changed.
JP5
Had my 2014 Freelander back to the garage where I bought it from for the oil sensor replacing as the oil light was on when idling. It wasn’t until I got home I noticed that the oil light doesn’t even come on when I start up. (Mmmmmm, very suspicious). So I took it to my usual mechanic for him to look at. He examined the car and it doesn’t seem like the sensor has been changed. So he checked the oil filter , which had collapsed which could of caused the initial problem, although the previous garage said they had done a full service 😡😡😡. My mechanic changed filter and oil. But still no oil light on start up. It seems like the dodgy garage has disabled the oil light some how. It’s not even illuminating when the wire is earth against the engine casing and not giving a fault on the diagnostics. Other than blowing the Led behind the dash does anyone know of other ways to disable the oil light please!!!☹️☹️☹️☹️ Edited June 30, 2019 by JP5
Bowie69
You only need to find the right wire in the loom somewhere and give it a snip.
