200tdi Crank case breather - plan to restrict the air flow?

Without reading all of this, it might be covered.  The stock oil separator closes off automatically when the intake pressure drops, so at high engine flow, it should close. Perhaps your valve was not working.  FYI, the stock unit was made by Mann+Hummel.

Hehe perhaps you should read the whole thread 😃 I (we) kinda came to the same conclusion.

Didn't know the original was M&H good to know👍

The breather needs to be free flowing as much as possible, as its not designed for any kind of pressure, if you block it you know about it as pretty much every engine seal starts to blow oil out, done it once accidentally.

So this is what I've done coiled a pieceof silicone hose up to make an orafice... see what happens...

I done exactly the same to my 200tdi disco.  I fibreglassed a 6mm to it and connected to my breather setup for wading as I have my turbo going straight to snorkel. The air filter on top before people say it’s no good to run no filter and haven’t blown a seal yet🤞
