Michael B
I pulled out of the driveway and made it to a stoplight today and the transmission made a grinding wail when I took off (sounded like shifting a manual trans without the clutch). As a result, the truck won't move and the noise won't stop unless in neutral. Please help- I don't want to send it to the scrap heap! PS- truck is an 89 range rover. FridgeFreezer
Is the difflock stuck on, or if it's a BW transfer box has the viscous coupling locked up?
geoffbeaumont
Is the difflock stuck on, or if it's a BW transfer box has the viscous coupling locked up? My BW box didn't behave at all like that when it seized up - just scuffed the tyres when you went round corners. Doesn't mean they don't ever do that, of course... Michael B
Thanks guys! The t- case is still good; think it might be a bad torque converter or some such thing.
