Arjan
We had a choice of routes and the one we picked had more track kms. but a different Bordercrossing.. We needed to climb a bit but the views were worth it Back on Tarmac, the long drive home started with a Italian stand off between a bus and a truck Soon, however, the climb started for the Border Some - dirty - snow and climbing we did The Italian <=> French Border Climbing to 2.745 Mtrs (about 8.320 Ft.) high we had our share of hairpins, steep ascends & descends, and loads of bikers and cyclists (...) but we had to press on So, how did the Discovery behave then ? Really, really good. Munching the motorway miles at 120 km/h on the cruise control, A/C on and some soft music makes you realize that the 110 was a totally different environment. On the trails it does very, very well and goes the places the Defenders do. Traction Control & manual centre diff lock (yes, we retro fitted one) make the thing go places without much fuss. The Continental Cross Contact Winter Tires seems to like the tracks and provided good grip and were on the Motorway really quiet. Sleeping inside was a bit different to the 110. In that one, I had a good bed. etc. and for the Discovery the same sort of set up didn't work as well. Talking to Mike, we have a lot of ideas on how to change the layout and make it more practical. We hope to meet again in October/November and see what changes I have made.

Arjan
You're welcome. Friends run a Camping / Gites down the road and most visitors stay there - we have no facilities whatsoever.. Mike & I hope to do another trip in November to test a new lay-out for the Discovery..
