Exmoor Beast
I am replacing the downpipe on my 110 (200TDi into a TD system) as the bracket back to the block has busted once too often and I am sick of breathing exhaust fumes. To get a really good gas free seal to the turbo do I need to use any sort of sealant in the joint? Will
sgnas
Exhaust putty/paste can be used when assembling a new system to ensure gas tight seal.

Les Henson
I use Gun Gum every time for exhaust gas seals - it's very good stuff. Les.
Exmoor Beast
Thanks Les, handy its the only thing I can get locally without a 40 mile drive. I am taking the angle grinder to the rear box later and chopping that out to be replaced with stainless of a bigger bore so I will use it on that as well. Full restoration of the 110 to follow Will
western
Will, mines the same system, I've only had 1 down pipe bracket crack, current one is a normal mild steel down pipe, if it's aligned correctly it should be fine, [might need a thick washer between block & pipe bracket ] & it should sit tight to the block without any packing, gun gum on mine too, it's good stuff.
