Mean Green
Can anyone tell me if the windscreen wipers on a 1996 Disco is controlled by an ECU? Mine are playing up at the moment. When I first got it the intermittant did not work at all. Suddenly one day it worked fine and was OK for about 2 weeks. Now, they do not always stop when you switch off the wipers. I need to give the screen a wash and then after the 4 sweeps it stops again. Could this be an ECU fault or just a dodgy switch?
BogMonster
There are some "multi function units" in the circuit diagram but it isn't really clear what they do. I suspect it is not as complicated as what you would normally call an "ECU" probably just a timer delay of some sort.
Ryan
It appears from my copy of the Haynes Manual that the wipers do go through the multi-function unit (which is behind the glove box). Why they couldn't just use relays, I don't know.... I'm told that the mfu has a habit of losing bits of solder for the electric window control, so I would assume the same could happen for the wipers.
