DaveB
Anyone know what causes my Td5 to squeal badly on cold damp mornings. I tried the usual trick of talcum powder on the drive belt, but it made no diference. I checked out a few other Td5s and most of them were also very noisy. The most constructive suggestion I have had so far is to turn up the radio.
normis
oh yes, I noticed the same thing on mine this week (weather's getting bad here). I thought it was a belt too. anyone solve this?
gavin.
I have a 300TDi that does the same thing. Removing the belt, cleaning it and replacing it will probably help for a week or two. Other than that I can't help, sorry.

henk
try chalk dust on the belt Had same problem but belt showed also some wear at outside part so changed it yesterday: reason for wear was the belt tensioner bearing that was gone completely
