Gents,

I have a compressor that I use which is man enough (I forget the cfm rating) to provide sufficient air for spraying and small sand blasting cabinet.

The main problem is the tank is a bit small and so the compressor cuts in a bit too much for my liking and drowns out the stereo! :P (the compressor lives under the workbench).

Sooooo...... what I want to do is quieten it down.

I was thinking of making a plywood box to cover with some noise insulation type material inside.

Obviously the compressor needs sufficient airflow in and out to keep cool and supply fresh air.

Anyone got something similar?

As always any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

Regards

My plywood box is lined with fire retardent foam about 2" thick. I made it so the foam was longer than the box to provide a seal to the floor.

I fitted an old RR air filter to the box to let air in and keep the noise from getting out.

Did the job.
