Paddy_SP
Having just stripped my front axle out (1994 110), I was horrified to find that the very ends of the teeth on the crownwheel have been chipped at some time in the past. It's clearly been rebuilt since then as there's no debris to be seen. The driveshaft bearings also sound a bit rumbly, so it looks like I need to take some drastic action... I don't want to be pulling it apart again, so am prepared to do whatever it takes to sort it - what are my options? Any help would be much appreciated! FridgeFreezer
A slipper plate, either DIY or not, could be a worthwhile thing.
JST
it depends what you use it for, if its just normal use (greenlaning, and road use) with std tryes upto 255.85s (33") then i would just rebuild it into a new pinion/crownwheel. (the two are matched) i wouldn't bother pegging them unless its got 35" plus tyres, lockers etc.
