Comical Engineer
I've just bought a 300tdi 96/N with 130k on it. The engine takes ages to warm up and even then the temperature gauge does not get much above the "C" on the gauge. It doesn't overheat but the heater won't exactly set your leg on fire either. My first thought is that the thermostat is stuck and it looks like a fairly easy job. Any comments or suggestions would be helpful. What is the correct thermostat temperature for a 300tdi? Thanks in advance.

BogMonster
Thermostats are fairly unreliable - for the cost of it, change it anyway as if the one fitted is still original it will not be working 100%!
Comical Engineer
Replacing the thermostat on a 300TDi engine.http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=10681 Les. Thanks to this excellent post I was able to replace the thermostat in under 30 minutes (including 10 min to find where I'd left the new one ) Happiness, warm feet and demisted windows now prevail. B) Thanks guys.

Comical Engineer
Please get rid of that horrible aeroplane you have as an avatar. Brings back bad memories Not known as the EE "Frightening" for nothing then! I know they were a pig to work on, but they are also Britain's first & last supersonic jet fighter. What's the problem?
