hope springs
Hi all, at the risk of covering old ground I am in need of some advise with the following. I need to replace my rear axle (93 Defender 90) due to rotten shock mounts (one fallen off) and very suspect spring mounts.I have looked through all the forums I can find but without much result, I have been advised that any defender or disco rear axle will fit and the ratios are the same, plus the later disc brakes will improve the braking. Is this correct and do I need the disc brakes as these axles seem to be a lot dearer than the drum version,+ can someone advise a trustworthy supplier of these items or is there a thread somewhere on this forum that I can read. Thanks in anticipation. Hope springs.

Les Henson
The lower spring mounts can be replaced, Paddocks sell them for about £5 each. The lower shock mounts are repairable - the hole usually gets too big/oval. Spring seat bracket- http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=19718 I did a tech thread on how to repair the lower shock mount, but it's vanished............... Les. hope springs
Hi gents, thanks for the replies. I looked at replacing the mounts, but the axle case is a bit thin.I have been looking for a defender/disco axle but they all seem to be silly money. Can anyone recommend a good supply of these things. I have been offered a Range Rover axle which looks to be in good nick, are these a straight swap or is it not worth considering. Many thanks again for the help. Hope Springs
