Anglo-Frenchman
Hi, I wish to replace the drop-arm ball-joint as well as the rear trackrod end on the same side (vehicle is a lhd so its my off-side) on my 1993 200tdi Defender. Can someone tell me if the rear track-rod is a L/H thread or R/H and what the part numbers are for the two items. Thanks very much. disco_al
ball joint can be either rbg00010 or stc3295. the other option that i have seen done is to fit a drop arm off a disco, and the drag link, thus adding a track rod end style to the steering box arm, eliminating the ball joint in the drop arm altogether, the only downside is you lose your steering damper, unless you relocate to behind the axle? Anglo-Frenchman
Thanks Al. I wish to keep the existing drop arm as the 110 is actually sold and i am only changing the two joints as a favour to the new owner. Ged
disco_al
it's difficult to say which thread it will have, as if it has been removed before, and resintalled backwards, the LHT could be a RHT...... best way i find when being asked by customers for a T/R end is to supply both, and return the unwanted one
western
Drop arm joint & track rod ends will be the same as UK vehicles, on the rear Track rod, it depends which person last reffited it, as there is no set way to fit, but good engineering practice would be to put the LH thread joint to the vehicles left, Drop arm joint is LR part --- STC3295 track rod joints on diagram below, LH & RH thread marked on appearing soon
