v8bertha
As per the title really. Doing a bit of engine overhauling on the Camel after last weeks dunking in the wet stuff and subsequent killing of said engine. When I come to put it all back together should I be looking at usinga new set of head bolts or can I use the existing ones? I'm kinda thinking along the lines of using new ones, but don't want to waste the money if I don't have to. Whats the view of the panel? Top90
You can only use them 2 or 3 times AFAIK. I'd always change them though, just in case.
Les Henson
Yep - they are stretch bolts. I suppose you could re-use them, but I wouldn't - they are bluddy tight, so it's a bit of a risk. Stage 1 - 40nm Stage 2 - 60deg Stage 3 - 60deg Stage 4 - Bolts 1,2,7,8,9,10,15,16,17,18 - 20deg Les.
v8bertha
Lovely chubbly! B) Thanks chaps, I think I was expecting that answer. Les, nice one... will be needing those numbers soon hopefully!
BigSi110
Turners do a replacement head bolt set for £25. I've just replaced my 300Tdi head and the new bolts weren't even a consideration in my view. Just buy them and don't worry.
FridgeFreezer
You need a V8, these TDi's don't seem to like water!
