JonJon
Sorry if this is the wrong place for this post; but does anyone know why the battered sankey trailer we've got locks its wheels when we reverse it? It makes everyone on the farm laugh though. Except us.
BogMonster
THe Sankey probably hasn't got auto reverse brakes? Or if they have then the auto reverse bit isn't working or is seized. I have a Sankey but when mine did that I engineered a permanent solution in about 2 min that involved a set of bolt croppers Probably needs to be moved to the Military forum
cipx2
They are laughing at you (and not the trailer) because you're supposed to get out and lock the trailer's break (drop a pin in a hole) before reversing. Then remove the pin when you're done maneuvering. The Sankey doesn't have auto-locking brake for reversing (unless someone modified it). P.S. BogMonster was faster ... I'll post it there now. (But what did you do with the bolt-croppers?)
BogMonster
It involved the rods which put the brakes on, and I bought it at a military cast sale because the brakes were seized on Bolt croppers, hammer, tow home Not recommended for UK road use tho

It's obvious they were laughing at me, but it's not obvious where I put the pin. Maybe I can't see it for staring!
cipx2
Hmm, seems I confused the Sankey with a copy trailer that has a pin for reversing. Here's the Sankey original way to lock the brake for reversing:
cipx2
If you have the pushing pin version: - here's a picture: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=3721 - here's how to use it: http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=21881

The reverse-stop clip is missing! Cheers for the help.
