Gromit
WTF is that for? bluddy thing falls out even if you just look at it Is that the one that fits to the bottom of the fork? It's called a Slipper Pad - Clutch Lever. Doesn't help much does it?
Bull Bar Cowboy
It goes in the top to hold the release bearing to the fork ........... the clip should have slight barbs on the legs that are a press fit into the hole in the top of the fork and the hole in the plastic body of the release bearing............. Don't forget to put a small amount of moly grease on the splines .............. don't use copper grease as it drys and goes hard....... You mean part number 4 ? Diff
Hi Tony, That plastic staple is merely an assembly aid. Its purpose is simply to ensure that the release bearing stays in place in relation to the slippers and the arm whilst you refit the engine to the gearbox. If the release bearing twists or moves away from the arm whilst you are refitting the engine, the slippers can get displaced and the clutch won't work properly. It is only a temporary thing, as once the engine is fitted, there won't be enough space for the bearing to become misplaced. The staple can be left out as it serves no other purpose and usually fall out straight away anyway. As long as the bearing stays in place while refitting the engine, it will be fine. Otherwise use a drop of glue on it or wedge it in. Hope this helps, Regards, Diff
