tonycougar
I am looking to replace the timing belt on my 200tdi 90 soon. I've been reading through Les hensons "How to" and in there it shows a pic of the parts that I need. My question is this:- I got a 200tdi timing belt kit from one of the suppliers, (I forget which) and the kit doesn't have the 2 round black seals in. (The timing cover dust seal and the crankshaft front oil seal I think.) Do I really need to replace these or can I not bother seeing as I don't have them?? JST
i dont have to change them but i would advise it if you have the pulley off anyway it wouldnt hurt to change them
Les Henson
The two seals are extra to the kit. If your crank seal isn't leaking, then there's no need to replace it, but I would recommend changing the dust seal as a precautionary measure. The seals are a 'best do it while you are in there' thing. Les.

LandyManLuke
As above, it's definitely worth changing the dust seal. I did my belt just before christmas, for the sake of a few pence it's worth doing.
