martin.beek
Hello I'm struggling with the following issue - any suggestions welcome! SIII with a 6 cylinder petrol engine, which in the recent past has started to overheat occasionally. Water has started to appear in the engine oil. Suspecting a problem with the head gasket. However, no air bubbles appear in the water, and the engine still runs fine. Typical gasket problems, or could the symptoms point to something else? Thanks, Martin. FridgeFreezer
Sounds very much like the head gasket to me - you don't have to have all of the symptoms at once.
tacr2man
What do you mean water has started to appear in eng oil, is water level dropping in cooling system , as water can appear in eng oil due to condensation and shortl runs. If you are overheating, do you mean boiling up, or temp guage going up, ? Having siad all above its not a hard job doing the head gasket on a 2.6 IOE engine What state is the radiator/cooling system in ? as these engines do tend to be more suceptible to hot running/over heat than the 4 cyl motors ?
