Safari Roofs

I've been looking at the Safari Roofs on other Landy's and I am thinking about trying to find one for mine, but I would like to know what owners of them think of them... Every one I have seen has a commonality... The retaining screws rust and the plastic spacers broken. So, Are they worth having? Are they more trouble than they are worth? Do they leak more than a standard Landy Hard top? (mine likes to leak where it meets the windscreen)

yip -worth it. I had one on my series II but only worth it in a hot country where you can benefit from airflow.

Hi rjblank

i used to have one on my swb s111 they are great in the summer and they work well in the winter as you don't get as much condensation and it helps to stop water leaks but they don't half slow you down if there is a bit of wind about and then it drinks fuel.

Graham, Thanks for the info... I rarely drive that speed for long, but I may now with the TDI... :) I found one up your way for 50 quid, but I don't know when I could get up there to pick it up... So when are you starting on your TDI?

Hi rjblank

i am hopeing to get an engine between now and billing at the moment i am refitting the g/box after resealing the clutch mechanism and then get it through the m.o.t. then its back on the road again depending where i have to collect an engine from i can use a works tranny van or the landy the problem is the tranny is an old van and doesen't do much milesso would not trust it on a long run so may have to use the landy.

If you live in a hot Country, like Portugal, you will need one for sure. After the 30º is very very hot inside...
