katluke Posted June 22, 2008 Share Posted June 22, 2008 I am in need of some helpful info please.I have lost the keys for my M reg 300 tdi and cant find the spare anywere.I was just wondering if there is a number anywhere on the vehicle which I can take to the dealer and have a new set cut ? Thanks for any replys. If you have no luck with the dealer a good mobile auto locksmith can cut keys to fit the lock without the original key present by "reading" the lock. BogMonster Posted June 22, 2008 Share Posted June 22, 2008 A dealer will be able to tell you the key number if you have the VIN and can prove you own it, the info is all held centrally by Land Rover - though won't help you if the locks have been changed already! The dealers all have a little machine that allows them to cut the keys there You'd need to get a new keyfob though, and they'd have to then open the vehicle and plug into the odb port and re-program a fob onto that though.
