western
I'd wind the stops out just enough to stop the tyre rubbing. [i dislike spacers] as for the spare if the original alloy spare fitted the steel should without any problems. have you turned the spare so the outer face is toward the door, as the distance from rim to outer face is less than the other way round, I can't see why it won't work. try it & stick some photos up. I've been out & took these, my carrier is totally standard length bars. [yes, I know my whels are different to Madcowz's] but you get the idea. 1.My wolf steel spare on the correct way 2.top nut on carrier stud 3 & 4.wheel outer face from door distance 5. wheel to wiper arm clearance [about 20mm] 6.carrier stud/inner nut from door 7.close up 8.wheel with outer face towards door --- note increased distance from wiper arm 9. from rear with wheel on wrong way.
