Eightpot Posted June 30, 2008 Share Posted June 30, 2008 We used to get 27-30mpg, on our 300 auto - then I removed the side steps, roof rack, catalyst and reduced the fueling (previous owner had dialed it to max) We now get 27-30mpg. JDB Posted July 1, 2008 Share Posted July 1, 2008 ... .check your MPG using a GPS to record distance - not your speedo, they are notoriously inaccurate and then affected by tyre size changes as well. The only accurate way is to brim the tank, drive a long distance on the GPS (or record several small trips) then brim again, personally I always find manufacturers claims high, and most peoples high as the speedo over reads..... Arthurmullard Posted July 4, 2008 Author Share Posted July 4, 2008 There is a hole in the tank and some clever sod has run a pipe all the way to the front where it slowly empties its self in to a noisy vibrating metal lump! my wife is gonna kill me!! Have come to the conclusion that there is no easy way round it but to remove the engine, check the flex plate and if its not that then strip the engine and then rebuild it with as many new parts as possible! better than a £500 s/h unknown replacement? the noise has most people baffled including the two landrover specialist that currently have it in there workshop, i am too scared to let them strip it as i am very poor at the mo! oh well the wife will have to drive the corsa for a while longer until we win the lottery!!!
