Velar
I'd like to convert my 2.25 Petrol one ten to 3.5 V8. Because my LT77 Gearbox works fine i'd like to keep the gearbox in. Is there any adaptor/conversion ring so I can use my original gearbox? Bart
Guest diesel_jim
Probably just a "series" landrover conversion ring, unless you want to swap the bellhousing and input shaft over from a V8 spec LT77 oh, and engine moounts too. you see the conversion rings on ebay quite often. Diff
Just a point to note, If you keep your gearbox, I presume you will keep your transfer box too. It is worth noting that the 4 cylinder petrol and NA diesel 110s were fitted with a 1.66 ratio transfer box. If yours still has this, it will be very undergeared with a V8 engine unless you are fitting some very large tyres too. Normally a V8 would have a 1.4 ratio in a defender.(standard defender 90 and 110 ratio for tdi and V8) Regards, Diff
Guest noggy
when he says "undergeared" he means, you will have stupid fast acceleration, and a low top speed. theres loads of places that do the conversion rings, steve parker does the kit i think. Looking on steve parkers website, it appears he does not.
JimAttrill
Or you could fit a BMW 2.8i as done by LR SA, cos that also uses the 1.6:1 box as the engine is a revver.
