Help with a wiring question

Recommended Posts

I am currently wiring in the difflock actuator on the Nissan axles under the discovery and am using the workshop schematic below as a guide. However I do not have a 2-way switch as shown and short of a 30 mile drive to get one or wait for a delivery am stuck at an impasse. However I do have loads of various relays here and i had a brainwave that perhaps I can replace the 2-way switch with a relay (switched by a simple 1-way on-off switch that I have here) that will sent the current either way depending on whether it is open or closed. I am sure such relays exist I just need to identify them.

Anyone out there can confirm that this will work and help me find what i'm looking for. An idiot -proof wiring diagram would also be helpful!

cheers

Mark

As you can see I am useless at electrics!

Any 5 pin change over relay ( as Landy man luke^^^^^ Said) will do it or I have the exact switch you need, I'll chuck one in the truck when i come over.

Just make sure its a change over and not a 5 pin with two common outputs.

I reckon there is a way with a switch and two normal 4 pin relays, but I am struggling to work it out... I'll let you know if I get it...

Edited:

Sorry - I think that perhaps I am wrong. Unless somebody clever knows otherwise?

Yes, you need 87 and 87a, not 87 and 87b.

You could use two normal relays and switches, you'd just have to switch one off as you switched the other on - far easier to use the proper switch :)
