TD5 Fuel leak

Recommended Posts

Anybody got a clue what may be causing a fuel leak on my TD5? It seems to be coming out of the "valve block" on the head just above the starter motor. Is this the fuel regulator?

If so how dificult to change and anyone got the part number?

Thanks in advance

You could have a leak there on the diesel cooler. There is a fuell line connection over there. It's some sort of a push pull connector what makes them connected with the cooler. Maybe one of them is not in good order anymore. I have never seen a leaking cooler before. I would go for the option that the line connections are bad. You can take the complete unit of and inspect it. I have done it before.

i would check all the connectors to the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel cooler, one of mine had to be replaced on the cooler when it started weaping, as previously mentioned they are only push fit connetors.

Regulator. Got one off the auction site, but the wrong one  Turns out I have a Storm1 engine (pre 2003) and I got a later regulator. Ordered a new one from my local specialist, should arrive today.

Apparently it is a common fault and about 1hr to change.

mines a '99 td5 and the 2nd stage part of the regulator went on mine in other words it would not open at the the higher rpm range so had to change it. The hardest bit was getting the accustic cover off!!!

when i got a replacement regulator (for the engine) eg right size i then found that they ahd changed the internal dimesnions of it, so went bolted to the block it needed a new shape/size gasket (obviosuly didnt have one!) so that turned into an instant gasket job to seal the new on one. i then got the newer gasket which is still waiting to be fitted (18mths later!!!)

once the tops off the engine (acoustic cover that it) about 30mins, depending on how many times you drop the bits!
