FridgeFreezer
i was just wondering if a 3.9 ecu will work on a 3.5?? In a pinch it probably would, assuming you're meaning swapping a 3.5 Hotwire ECU for a 3.9 Hotwire ECU, or flapper for flapper. The flapper and hotwire are not interchangeable with each other as there were changes to the injectors and rather obviously the ECU plugs are different. if so would i be looking at any power increases? Hell no. would is bring the 3.5 on lpg closer to standard? Nope. and i would like to know where i could get an ecu extension loom? Buy some wire, some heatshrink, and some solder is probably the easiest option. I'll rather predictably say MegaSquirt is probably a more suitable answer to your problems. NRS91
i meant lpg power... and i had heard that using a 3.9 ecu would bring power increases... what are the main differences between 3.5 and 3.9 ecus? ive seen one the same type as mine for sael thats why i ask
FridgeFreezer
i meant lpg power... And I meant "no", if your LPG system is running incorrectly I'd look at your LPG system, not the original ECU. and i had heard that using a 3.9 ecu would bring power increases... Well, it would probably bring a mixture of over-fuelling and occasional under-fuelling. what are the main differences between 3.5 and 3.9 ecus? Like-for-like, one will have the correct fuel map for a 3.5 and one will have the correct fuel map for a 3.9.

Highway_Star
Only on very high end LPG systems (ie nothing that would be fitted to a V8 Range Rover) does the existing ECU have anything to do with LPG fuelling. On most Lucas EFi V8 setups with LPG, the only thing the Lucas ECU does on LPG is control the idle speed.
