sotal
I helped pick up a series LR the other day with a NATO hitch on the front bumper, the hitch seems to be seized - is there any particular way to free them off?
FridgeFreezer
WD4O, hitting with hammer, or disassembly and cleaning / re-greasing and re-assembly.
sotal
Having never seen one before how are they supposed to open? DO you lift the lttle bit on the top back, then lift the whole top part?
Les Henson
You can strip then right down, clean and reassemble. WD40/soak in diesel usually gets them working again, but a strip and regrease will be needed. Les.
Les Henson
Pull out the locking pin (big R-clip), lift up the locking mechanism, then the top half of the hook will lift up. Les.
sotal
I couldn't see a locking pin anywhere but will have a proper look later Thanks!
edwardatherton
I couldn't see a locking pin anywhere but will have a proper look laterThanks! That's not unusual. You can't miss it if it is there, so assume it is missing. If it is really stuck, take it off and stick it in a bucket of diesel, gunk or similar for a while first. sotal
I've found a few pics and from what I can tell the locking pin was a later addition, so maybe it's just an older one? I'll follow the advice and put it in some diesel for a few days, I've already tried coating it in penetrating oil
