Green Bob
You know the one I mean, with the nato hitch... Just wondering if the finished article will be as strong with a budget non-rotating nato hitch. My guess is not, but I can hope...
BogMonster
As per my PM last night, I don't think it will make any difference. I never have my rotating hitch unlocked, its always in the normal position with the lock engaged. The advantage of a NATO hitch is that it is built to be squaddie proof and the ultimate tensile strength is quoted somewhere as being something silly like 22 tonnes which is probably a lot more than your standard Dixon Bate jaw and pin arrangement. Having said that I don't think I have ever seen anybody actually BREAK a tow hitch, seen a few bent NATO jaws where a big trailer has jammed its ring in the jaw when reversing, the worst one the hook of the jaw was bent the best part of an inch sideways but it didn't break! Green Bob
That's good... Pretty sure it won't go anywhere when I fix it all up then. I may increase the back plate thickness as well to make doubly sure... Thanks.
