Guest mr_wuffles
Am i right in thinking if you swap the shifter housing on a LT77 from a disco 200 Tdi to a defender type that you can fit a disco box one in a defender?
Paul
I thought the input shafts were different lengths, much shorter on a 200tdi Defender? Paul
minivin
bellhousing and input shaft on a diesel Disco is pretty much same as V8 on Defender/rangie, also the gearchange shaft inside the main case is different as the Def has like a "C" clasp, while the Disco has a nylon bushed ball like the receptacle on the Defender gearchange extensions front end. minivin
Second from right, Disco gearchange linkage: Gearchange Rod different to take this, trapped by grub screw Defender "throw forward" gearchange mechanism has this retained by a mills pin:
Jon White
As Rob says - selector shafts within the box are totally different. Some of the internals are interchangeable and it's possible to change one over by stripping both boxes, but no its not a straight forward swap!
