LDRover
Have gone out to start my Discovery today and after a short run and turning the engine off the Battery/Charge Light comes on and stays on. If I restart the engine it goes out, any ideas. Thanks.

Pete Attryde
If the light is still on after the keys are removed then I would suspect a diode has failed in the alternator. So either a new alternator or a new diode pack. I would also suggest disconecting the battery ,over night, as it will go flat if the diode has failed. Pete. western
just find your nearest auto electrics place & get them to fit a new rectifier/diode pack & test it after the repair, must be chaeper than a new alternator.
Discovan300tdi
My disco started doing that last week on the way home from work one night.I took the alternator into get it looked at , the armature had worn away according to the chap in the repair shop, ended up buying a brand new alternator out of the local bargain buy paper for 15 squid, and it cost me another tenner to get its internals put into,my casing as it turned out the new one was actually for a V8 with the serpentine belt so wouldnt fit my 300tdi so now have a rebuilt alternator for the grand sum of £
