steve_d
As per title. How much does a fully dressed 3.9 V8 weigh? Need to buy an engine hoist with plenty of height but that limits its lifting capacity. Capacity costs money so don't want to buy bigger than I need too. Thanks Steve
landmannnn
Seem to remember 185kg.

Thanks Steve I lifted a 7.2 litre cast iron bloked Crysler V8 with my 1 tonne engine hoist but only just. I lifted a 2.5 diesel landy engine with clutch etc with ease with it at full stretch. I recon a V8 ally blocked engine is lighter than both of those so 1 tonne would do easy.
Steve 90
230kg according to this. http://www.v8engines.com/engine-4.htm
steve_d
230kg according to this.http://www.v8engines.com/engine-4.htm Sounds pretty conclusive, even used my own words 'fully dressed' Thanks all. The hoist I was looking at will do that weight at full stretch. Getting expensive this engine swap, my compressor die today as well. FridgeFreezer
I've seen an engine crane that's rated for 250Kg full stretch lift a 300TDi & box & LT230 so petty much anything will lift a V8
mike4444244
wot he said mines a sealy economy 1t one and it lifted my 200tdi+lt77+lt230 on full stretch, was 'slightly' unstable though they are extremely over engineered (no pun intended)
