Just seen the post re the end of the 'SVA'.

Understand the new IVA is coming in, read only a bit - but whats the key difference(s)

Does the Q plate / points system still stand ?

From what I have seen of the IVA manual there is not a lot of difference in the requirement but a huge difference in the way it is defined. This will make it much easier for both sides as many areas that seemed open to interpretation in SVA have been spelled out in IVA.

I have not made it bedtime reading but have been following threads on the subject in Kitcar forums. They have obviously been following it closely and there have been no fireworks or gnashing of teeth so I assume they have not found any nasties.

There was a short period when the proposal outlawed exposed exhaust pipes and boxes. This was a major issue for Cobra and seven replica builders but this seems to have been removed now.

I have the IVA manual here and have read it very carefully. I agree - it does clarify just about everything. I would say that it's almost a 'how to do it', rather than a book of rules. A vast improvement on the old SVA in my opinion.

As Les says, no real nasties and only a few areas that would give a Land Rover type vehicle problems.....

Yes, points system still exists as do Q plates however where possible they prefer to give out age related plates on "points vehicles" over a Q where possible.
