Bluemoon
I've got a Defender rev counter, ( in my Defender 300dti) being on about 2 years, but I've just upgraded my alternator from a Disco 300. now my revs show a lower reading. There's three terminals on the back of the rev counter earth, positive and input. Is it something I've just got to live with or is there a fix. cheers for any help Brian
rtbarton
Compare the pullies on the two alternators, if they're different use the old pulley (if it'll fit!)
western
if there's 3 small white slide switches on the back do this ---->>>> move the 3 slides so you get 1 & 3 up & 2 down, then refit & check the idle rpm it should read 750 to 800rpm & max rpm should be around 3850rpm.
