Td5 problem at high revs

Recommended Posts

Well seems like theres another problem i have found with this td5, when i acelerate at a fast pace once I get to say 10mph in 1st, 20 in 2nd and so on the Td5 starts going power, no power, power, no power.

Kinda like its stopping and starting ? But say i go slowly up to those speeds the landrover is find and can go higher.

Just wondering if anyone else had/has this and knows why it does this. My mate seems to think its the clutch starting to slip at high revs.

Other thing worth checking is that the wastegate on the turbo is not seized... it could be hitting the boost cut point, meaning that the ECU will cut fuelling until boost pressure drops back below it's limit point. Is very common on Td5's.

If the revs were increasing but power dropping off then it's the clutch, but if the revs drop when the power cuts then it's more likely the wastegate is seized.
