tyre and speedo help please

Recommended Posts

Every Defender I've been in read quite high on the speedo and larger tyres makes it more accurate.

By law they have to over read by somewhere between 0 to 10 percent so most manufacturers aim somewhere in the middle - newer vehicles are usually out by about 5% older ones with the mechanical speedo tend to be more. Worst I have seen was 25% but that was a 110 on 205s :)

33" tyres instead of 32" tyres will increase the gearing by about 3% so will probably cut the speedo error in half, more or less, so it will still read slightly over.
