HELP FOR HEROES 4x4 EUROPEAN RALLY - June 19th-29th 2010 (http://www.h4hrally.co.uk)

The HELP FOR HEROES 4x4 EUROPEAN RALLY 2010 will start at Noon on Saturday 19th June 2010 at a secret location in North Wiltshire. After using byways on Salisbury Plain we will all go to Portsmouth to embark on the ferry over to France. It will be a 1650 mile/2640 km expedition encompassing 6 countries in 10 days, this non-speed event comprising a maximum of 30+ teams will be part history tour, fun competition, part off-road driving and part club-type social, open to all types of 4x4 vehicles. The money raised by teams will be donated to our chosen charity, HELP FOR HEROES (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk).

The HELP FOR HEROES 4x4 EUROPEAN RALLY 2010 follows the path and tells the story of the Allied Invasion through Europe and includes parts fabled by the Band of Brothers book and television series. As young men, who knew extraordinary bravery and extraordinary fear, the Allied Forces landed in France early on D-Day morning – 6th June 1944.

The liberation of Europe had commenced.

would be really interested in this Tim, and supports a very worthy charity too.

Would it be suitable for a complete newbie like myself? as I say, I've never done anything like this at all but have driven on the continent extensively.

Thanks for your interest in the H4H 4x4 Rally. With regards to your question "Would it be suitable for a complete newbie like myself?", the answer is 'Yes'. Our rally is aimed at all levels of off-road experience, the main reason for the 4x4 aspect is because some of the roads would not be accessible by normal 'cars'. Plus we are hoping to add a couple of 4x4 sites which would easily accommodate a novice 4x4er. There will be marshals on the rally as well just in case people do have any hiccups whilst off road :).

Just a quick update - due to places started to fill up, and also having an immense amount of interest in the H4H 4x4 Rally, we are happy to announce that we are upping the limit of entrants to 40 vehicles/teams (entrants after that will go on to a reserve list). Please remember that the places available are based on a 'first come, first served' basis

:)

The 2012 Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally will start on 16th June. The 2010 and 2011 rallies raised an amazing combined £300,000 for the charity. Come and join us, have some great fun and support Help for Heroes at the same time.

Our journey follows the 1944/5 Allied Invasion route through Europe; starting near Salisbury Plain, we will visit Normandy, The Somme and Ypres re WWI, then Arnhem (Operation Market Garden), Bastogne (Battle of the Bulge), the Alsace, then to Germany and Dachau – with its horrors of war – and ending at Hitler’s impenetrable Eagles’ Nest in Bavaria.

The event is not a race and is open to serving military, ex-service personnel, civilians and families. Both the winner and runner-up in 2011 were families with children (age 2-14).
