Hand brake adjustment

Recommended Posts

lift the cover between the front seats, on the drivers side, find the 2 locknuts on the cable outer sleeved threaded section, chock the wheels, release handbrake, tighten the transmission brake adjuster until it's tight, back off 2 clicks [1.5 turns], slacken the 2 locknuts, apply handbrake onto 3rd click of ratchet, adjust locknuts until transmission brake is locked, release handbrake & check transmission brake drum is free to turn, job done.

erm.....have you checked the thickness on the shoes - if it is "years" they could be a bit thin by now!

The shoes shouldn't really wear out. Unless, they're incorrectly adjusted, you use the handbrake to slow/stop the car (why?) or you get the drum filled with water/mud after deep wading.
