Lars L
The driveline on my 110 has started to make some new noises. I've thought it to be the rear axle, but lately I've begun to suspect the rear output bearing in the transferbox. When driving at 35-40 mph and slight overrun, there is a rumble from below. But if I apply the handbrake just a little, it goes quiet. This has lead me to suspect the bearing since the light braking seems to stabilize the shaft. Any views from people in the know? martinspragg
Have you checked the UJ's on the rear shaft? Just a thought.
Lars L
Indeed I have. All the obvious things, easy to get to, have been checked and are in good order.
tuko
Lars, this is the very problem I was having with the old series 2 transfer box that I was using in the hybrid. The noise and vibrations have finally gotten to me and I've replaced it with the original series 3 transfer box. The plan is to replace the bearing and start all over again. Todd. Les Henson
Disconnect the rear prop, hang on the drum, and rotate it. If the bearing is worn, then you can usually feel it. If the wear is only slight then you may no detect it by this method - the rear shaft is supported by 2-bearings. Les.
Lars L
Thanks, Les, will do. BTW, I sent you a PM some weeks ago...
