Malcyt
Hi, I was at Seven Sisters a week or so ago with Shires .....a great time was had by all. I discovered that the selector for Diff lock was not engaging....with the help of a screw driver we managed to get engaged to have some fun but I now need to fix. It looks like the pin/clip at the top of the selector rod is missing......question is .....is there an easy way to get access? or do I have to take lots apart? It's a defender 90 , 1990. Any tips welcome. Malc
western
from under the vehicle which is a bit fiddly or lift the gearbox rubber gaiters & work from inside, still a bit fiddly but doable or remove the tunnel panel for more access. crwoody
The easiest way I've found to access the diff lock levers & bits is to remove the centre gearbox cover from inside the car, (edit; as Western said, beat me to it!) just a few self-tappers around the edges to undo and it lifts off. Mind you, being a 1990 motor, you may have some rusty ones to give you a headache.
Malcyt
All Sorted............ managed to do if from the top, only had to lift off the rubber cover used a curved darning needle and thread to pull the pin though the hole and a pair of long pliers to pop the split pin in place...... jobs a gooden
