dean68uk
Hi All, I have a genuine rear step on my 95 300TDI wich just flops down and will not stay in the stowed position. A new damper fitting kit is £56 at the dealer. Any ideas to help sort it out would be useful. Thanks Dean

ahebron
A large magnet 50mm x 50mm works on mine. Got it for NZ$3.00 at the local computer wrecker. Holds the step in place over some pretty rough ground but will release the step easily if needed by pushing down on it with your foot, just have to lift it back when finished. Adrian Whoops just realised this thread is old!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Still nothing like rekindling an old thread.
Boydie
I got my damper re-gassed by the local mobile guy for AUD $25.00 and it works fine.
RaDi90Hybrid
I replaced mine with one of the back of a Defender, much cheaper, just needed a little modification.
